My accomplishments in 8th grade are exciting to me and make me think of what I did before I made these accomplishments. I made a new friend this year and I raised my math grade.
Last year in 7th grade I made a C in math almost every marking period. This year in 8th grade I didn’t want to fall behind again since my bad grade put me into intro. My mom’s friend’s mom happened to be a retired teacher and her best subject was math. Her name was Margaret, but everyone called her Mimi. I went to her house every Wednesday and I started to see math as an easier subject each time I went. Report cards came around and when they did I usually got scared, but this time I had a good feeling. When I checked it I had a 99% in math. I was so happy and when I showed my mom she was happy too. I called Mimi and she was so proud of me. I thanked her and she said “I didn’t do the work for you in class you did it on your own.” Each marking period came around and I saw Mimi less and less each month. My grade still stayed an A in math, but I got to the point where I understood almost everything in math. I didn’t need Mimi to help me anymore. Ever since then my grade in math hasn’t dropped to a B once.
In late September a new girl came to our school by the name of Morgan Holston. She was in my Chorus class and she was pretty shy. One day I sat next to her and started talking to her. I noticed we had a lot in common and not only did we have a lot in common, but she watched one of my favorite shows that almost everyone has never heard of. As days went by I talked to her more and more. Not only was she in my Chorus class, but she was in my Science and Contemporary issues class too. I introduced her to my best friend and they started talking as well. Weeks went by and we started sitting together at lunch and talking more. Now she is one of my best friends and I am so glad I talked to her in chorus, because if I didn’t I would have never gained a close friend.
My grade in math remains an A and I understand it better now. Morgan is one of my closest friends and I wonder what would happen if I never talked to her. These accomplishments have made a great change in my life.
